Adobe Acrobat   6/14/2016

Adobe Acrobat

Adobe Acrobat is a family of application software and Web services developed by Adobe Systems to view, create, manipulate, print and manage files in Portable Document Format (PDF).

The family comprises Acrobat Reader (formerly Adobe Reader), Acrobat (formerly Acrobat Exchange) and Acrobat.com.

The freeware Acrobat Reader, available for several desktop and mobile platforms, can view, print and annotate PDF files.

The commercial proprietary Acrobat, available for Microsoft Windows and OS X only, can also create, edit, convert, digitally sign, encrypt, export and publish PDF files.

Acrobat.com complements the family with a variety of enterprise content management and file hosting services.

Apache OpenOffice    Office Suite  6/14/2016

Apache OpenOffice Office SuiteDownload

Apache OpenOffice (AOO) is an open-source office productivity software suite.

It is a successor project of OpenOffice.org and integrates features and improvements from IBM Lotus Symphony.

Apache OpenOffice is a close cousin of LibreOffice and NeoOffice.

It contains a word processor (Writer), a spreadsheet (Calc), a presentation application (Impress), a drawing application (Draw), a formula editor (Math), and a database management application (Base).

Apache OpenOffice's default file format is the OpenDocument Format (ODF), an ISO/IEC standard, which originated with OpenOffice.org.

It can also read and write a wide variety of other file formats, with particular attention to those from Microsoft Office (although unlike LibreOffice, the other major OpenOffice.org branch, it cannot save Microsoft's newer XML formats like DOCX, only import them).

Apache OpenOffice is developed for Linux, OS X and Windows, with ports to other operating systems.

It is distributed under the Apache License.

The first release was version 3.4.0, on 8 May 2012.

In January 2015 the project reported a lack of active developers and code contributions and that they were "still struggling in involving new volunteers who can independently work on big developments".

The most recent release (4.1.2, released Oct. 28, 2015) includes a fix for a serious remote code execution security vulnerability which had been present since April 2015.

Google Docs Sheets and Slides   6/14/2016

Wikipedia

Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides are a word processor, a spreadsheet and a presentation program respectively, all part of a free, web-based software office suite offered by Google within its Google Drive service.

The suite allows users to create and edit documents online while collaborating with other users in real-time.

The three apps are available as web applications, as Chrome apps that work offline, and as mobile apps for Android and iOS.

The apps are compatible with Microsoft Office file formats.

The suite also consists of Google Forms (survey software), Google Drawings (diagramming software) and Google Fusion Tables (database manager; experimental).

While Forms and Tables are only available as web applications, Drawings is also available as a Chrome app.

The suite is tightly integrated with Google Drive.

All files created with the apps are by default saved to Google Drive.

Libre Office    Office Suite  6/14/2016

LibreOffice is a free and open source office suite, developed by The Document Foundation.

It was forked from OpenOffice.org in 2010, which was an open-sourced version of the earlier StarOffice.

The LibreOffice suite comprises programs for word processing, the creation and editing of spreadsheets, slideshows, diagrams and drawings, working with databases, and composing mathematical formulae.

It is available in 110 languages.

LibreOffice uses the international ISO/IEC standard OpenDocument file format as its native format to save documents for all of its applications (as do its OpenOffice.org cousins Apache OpenOffice and NeoOffice).

The OpenDocument file format is now also supported by all major competing office suite applications (proprietary and open source).

LibreOffice is also compatible with other major office suites, including Microsoft Office, through a variety of import/export filters.

The file formats of Microsoft Office are well supported, though some layout features and formatting attributes are handled differently in the application or are not entirely supported in the filters.

LibreOffice is available for a variety of computing platforms, including Microsoft Windows, OS X (10.8 or newer), and Linux (including a LibreOffice Viewer for Android).

It is the default office suite of most popular Linux distributions.

Between January 2011 (the first stable release) and October 2011, LibreOffice was downloaded approximately 7.5 million times.

The project claims 120 million unique downloading addresses from May 2011 to May 2015, excluding Linux distributions, with 55 million of those being from May 2014 to May 2015.

Notepad++    Multifunctional Text Editor  6/14/2016

Notepad++ Multifunctional Text Editor Download

Notepad++ is a text editor and source code editor for use with Microsoft Windows.

Unlike Notepad, the built-in Windows text editor, it supports tabbed editing, which allows working with multiple open files in a single window.

The project's name comes from the C increment operator.

Notepad++ is distributed as free software.

At first the project was hosted on SourceWorkshop.net, from where it has been downloaded over 28 million times, and twice won the SourceWorkshop Community Choice Award for Best Developer Tool.

The project has been hosted on TuxFamily since June 2010.

Notepad++ uses the Scintilla editor component.

Notepad++ supports syntax highlighting and code folding for over 50 programming, scripting, and markup languages.

It attempts to automatically detect the language that a given file uses, using a modifiable list of file extension bindings.

Users may also manually set the current language, overriding the extension's default language.

The program also supports autocompletion for a subset of the API of some programming languages.
